SUMMARY:Vampyros Lesbos
DESCRIPTION:Screening as part of “Reel Pride” at Enzian! \nThis June\, celebrate the power of queer representation through a collection of bold\, groundbreaking\, and deeply human films. From enduring classics to emerging voices\, REEL PRIDE showcases a rich tapestry of experiences that reflect the diversity\, resilience\, and creativity of the LGBTQIA+ community. Join Enzian for an unforgettable series of films\, designed to generate conversations and foster community through the lens of great storytelling. \nVampyros Lesbos: \nIncludes a special introduction by Nicole Richter\, PhD\, author of “Bisexual Erasure in ‘Lesbian Vampire’ Film Theory.” In partnership with Dyke Nite Orlando. \nIn a career that spanned 57 years and over 200 films\, the Vatican once called Spanish exploitation maverick Jesus ‘Jess” Franco “the most dangerous director in the world”.  This\, his retelling of the “Dracula’s Guest” story has gained a following over the decades via its erotic flights of surreal imagery\, psychedelic soundtrack\, and iconic performance by Franco muse Soledad Miranda as the Countess and has been often cited (and programmed along with Jean Rollin) as a controversial but still recognizable foundational work of early queer cinema. \nEwa Strömberg (She Killed in Ecstasy) stars as Linda\, a woman with recurring dreams about a woman seducing her. When Linda’s sent to an island off the coast of Istanbul\, she meets the very Countess of those dreams. After quickly falling under the woman’s spell\, Linda finds she’s not the only one with an obsession for the Countess. With a thin plot to roll with\, Franco creates dazzling scenes of arty softcore bliss infused with psycho-sexedelic tunes. \nFreaky Fridays ticket prices include a free popcorn and soda or lemonade for all attendees! Alcohol can be purchased at Eden Bar. Regular food service will not be available for Freaky Friday events. So\, come early\, and fuel up outside for the night ahead!

SUMMARY:Shoshana
DESCRIPTION:Screening as part of the 26th Annual Central Florida Jewish Film Festival! \nSet in British Mandatory Palestine\, this gripping historical thriller from celebrated British filmmaker Michael Winterbottom (A Mighty Heart\, The Trip series)\, weaves a story of star-crossed love with one of political radicalization and violence. The year is 1938 on the eve of the Second World War\, and tensions are high in Tel Aviv where the British control a mixed Arab and Jewish population in Palestine. English police officer Thomas Wilkin and Jewish journalist and activist Shoshana Borochov\, the daughter of the Zionist Labor movement co-founder\, are passionately in love. But political unrest is escalating. Avraham Stern is leading the Irgun in a deadly campaign against the British authorities\, who under the leadership of officer Geoffrey Morton (Harry Melling\, the Harry Potter series)\, have unilaterally increased their crackdown on both Jews and Arabs. Based on real people and events\, this rigorously acted and smartly crafted drama is a subtle homage to the noir classic The Third Man and an insightful portrait of the legacy of British colonialism and political violence. \nPurchase a Series or Mensch Pass to receive admission to all 5 Central Florida Jewish Film Festival films\, plus priority seating! \nMensch Pass $118 (limited quantity): Includes first priority seating to all 5 films and a donation to Shalom Orlando \nSeries Pass $65 (limited quantity): Includes discounted admission to all 5 films and second priority seating \nPlease note\, there are no Enzian Film Society Member discounts or table reservations for Central Florida Jewish Film Festival films.

DESCRIPTION:Screening as part of the 26th Annual Central Florida Jewish Film Festival! \nFlorida Premiere! \nGrowing up\, Noam was told he looked and acted just like his beloved grandfather did when he was young. Struggling with his own identity and hoping to find a sort of validation in his grandfather’s history\, he sets out on an odyssey to discover the truth. With a star turn by actor/singer Charlie Korman\, Noam’s journey becomes a heartfelt story of self-acceptance in this touching coming-of-age drama. With a nod to Glee\, Director Jeremy Borison draws on personal experience to deliver a sweet and gentle tale that won the Best Narrative Film Award at the Los Angeles Jewish Film Festival.

\nThis screening will take place at the Orlando Science Center Digital Adventure Theater. \nHarold May (Jeremy Piven\, HBO’s Entourage) is an American Jew and gifted tap dancer. SUMMARY:Farewell\, Mr. Haffmann
DESCRIPTION:This film will take place at the Orlando Science Center Digital Adventure Theater. \nThe legendary Daniel Auteuil (Jean de Florette) gives one of his most superlative screen performances in this gripping new historical drama from writer/director Fred Cavayé\, based on Jean-Philippe Daguerre’s celebrated\, multi–Molière Award-winning play. Occupied Paris\, 1941: all members of the Jewish community are instructed to come forward and identify themselves to authorities. Dedicated jeweler Joseph Haffmann (Auteuil)\, fearing the worst\, arranges for his family to flee the city and offers his employee François Mercier (Gilles Lellouche) the chance to take over his store until the conflict subsides. But his own attempts to escape are thwarted\, and Haffmann is forced to seek his assistant’s protection. It’s a risky proposition for both men\, and one that Mercier’s wife Blanche (a wonderful Sara Giraudeau) is skeptical of. As the couple move in to the Haffmann home\, the agreement turns into a Faustian bargain\, one that will forever change the fate of all. One of the biggest box office hits of the year in France\, the superbly directed Farewell\, Mr. Haffmann is a transfixing humanist portrait of survival and resistance\, as well as the tragic consequences of complicity and collaboration. \n  \nMensch Pass $136 (limited quantity): All 6 programs\, First Priority Seating\, Doors open 30 minutes early \nSeries Pass $78 (limited quantity): All 6 programs\, Discounted Admission\, Second Priority Seating \nIndividual Tickets $14 \nPasses and individual tickets can be purchased online or in person at Enzian’s box office.

SUMMARY:Queen of the Deuce
DESCRIPTION:For two decades Chelly Wilson reigned over 42nd Street in Manhattan\, then referred to as the “Deuce\,” as the pugnacious matriarch of a skin flick empire. A larger-than-life character with chutzpah to spare\, Wilson owned several adult theaters and was known for her magnetism and shrewd business sense\, thriving in the exclusively male underworld while prepared by her unusual history. Born Rachel Serrero into a devout Sephardic Jewish family\, she was an avowed tomboy who smoked cigarettes\, wore pants\, and studied medicine until pressured by her father into a loveless marriage that produced two children. Always ahead of the curve\, Wilson saw the writing on the wall for Jews and boarded the last ship out of Athens alone in 1939. With five dollars she turned a modest hot dog stand into a legitimate theater business before pivoting to adult films and changing New York’s seedy underbelly in the process. Weaving together archival footage\, home movies\, animated sequences and interviews with her daughters\, grandchildren\, friends\, and associates\, Queen of the Deuce is the rollicking and remarkable tale of a Jewish grandmother who built a pornographic legacy “one pubic hair at a time.” \n  \nMensch Pass $136 (limited quantity): All 6 programs\, First Priority Seating\, Doors open 30 minutes early \nSeries Pass $78 (limited quantity): All 6 programs\, Discounted Admission\, Second Priority Seating \nIndividual Tickets $14 \nPasses and individual tickets can be purchased online or in person at Enzian’s box office.

SUMMARY:June Zero
DESCRIPTION:Shot in lush super 16mm in Israel and Ukraine\, Jake Paltrow’s stunning and thought-provoking historical drama captures a profound event in the history of the young state — a moment that dramatically changed\, both inside and outside of Israel\, the way in which the Holocaust is now understood and remembered. Inspired by true events\, June Zero is set in 1962 Israel\, where\, after an emotional public trial\, Adolf Eichmann — one of the key architects of the Holocaust — has been tried and sentenced to death for crimes against humanity and crimes against the Jewish people. The vividly textured story is told from the point-of-view of 3 characters: David\, a 13-year-old Libyan immigrant\, who works in the factory where Eichmann’s corpse was incinerated; Hayim\, a Jewish-Moroccan guard assigned to Eichmann’s jail cell to protect him from vigilante justice; and Micha\, a Polish survivor of Auschwitz who became the chief interrogator at the trial. Though seemingly disparate characters\, these three are inexorably connected through the parts they played in this seminal moment of Jewish history. \n  \nMensch Pass $136 (limited quantity): All 6 programs\, First Priority Seating\, Doors open 30 minutes early \nSeries Pass $78 (limited quantity): All 6 programs\, Discounted Admission\, Second Priority Seating \nIndividual Tickets $14 \nPasses and individual tickets can be purchased online or in person at Enzian’s box office.

SUMMARY:Matchmaking
DESCRIPTION:This film will take place at the Orlando Science Center Digital Adventure Theater. \nEndlessly witty\, visually rapturous\, and sweetly romantic\, Matchmaking is a Romeo and Juliet-like saga (sans the tragedy!) of two young\, eligible ultra-Orthodox singles looking for a match. Moti (Amit Rahav from the Netflix international hit Unorthodox) spots Nechama (Liana Ayoun in a breakthrough performance)\, his sister’s friend\, and is instantly smitten\, but isn’t allowed to date the charming\, beautiful young woman because she doesn’t come from an Ashkenazi (European origin) family like his own\, but rather comes from a Mizrahi (Middle Eastern origin) family. Over the course of time\, Moti is sent on a whirlwind of dates with beautiful girls in the Orthodox community\, but against everything he knows\, he finds he must pursue his one true love\, Nechama. A joyous new tale about tolerance and love from the director of A Matter of Size (CFJFF 2009)\, Matchmaking is Israel’s biggest box office hit of the year and is full of hijinks\, jokes\, and slapstick humor\, along with plenty of one-liners about spicy salads and noodle kugels\, with a heavy dose of Yiddish sprinkled into the Hebrew script. \n  \nMensch Pass $136 (limited quantity): All 6 programs\, First Priority Seating\, Doors open 30 minutes early \nSeries Pass $78 (limited quantity): All 6 programs\, Discounted Admission\, Second Priority Seating \nIndividual Tickets $14 \nPasses and individual tickets can be purchased online or in person at Enzian’s box office.

SUMMARY:Eega
DESCRIPTION:Rare Theatrical Showing!  \nYou will believe this man is a fly! From the mind of S.S. Rajamouli\, the director of spectacular Academy Award-winner RRR\, this wild and insanely imaginative early masterwork will make you think twice about flailing your arms at the sight of a fly ever again. Nani loves Bindhu\, but when lecherous developer Sudeep also takes a liking to the soft-spoken artist\, he decides to get rid of the competition.  Only his plan backfires when Nani rises from the dead\, reincarnated as a common (but crafty) housefly out for blood who wreaks havoc on Sudeep’s life and quashes his romantic designs on Bindhu. A jaw-dropping action-fantasy-musical-revenge tale\, Eega is indescribably fun and inventive\, and presented here uncut on the big screen for the first time in over a decade. You haven’t lived until you’ve seen a fly try to kill a man for two hours in the most outrageous and off-the-wall ways imaginable—Eega is a once-in-a-lifetime moviegoing experience you won’t soon forget! \nBuy a Series Pass to receive discounted admission to all 5 South Asian Film Festival films\, plus priority seating!

SUMMARY:Kacchey Limbu
DESCRIPTION:US Premiere! \nCricket is the second most popular sport in the world\, played or followed by 2.5 billion people. But it’s often a man’s game. As Bend it Like Beckham and Love & Basketball did before it\, Kacchey Limbu puts a talented young woman at the center of play\, sparking a contrast with much more than the final score at stake. Set in the courtyards and improvised pitches of Mumbai\, this colorful comedy follows a pair of siblings who find themselves on competing cricket teams as they struggle to balance family loyalty with the pursuit of their passions. Aditi (Radhika Madan) dreams about being a fashion designer\, though her father insists she study medicine. Her big brother Akash (Rajat Barmecha) drags himself to corporate job interviews\, though his first and only love is cricket. When he is accepted into a new league\, Aditi decides to throw her hat in the ring and start her own team\, assembling a motley crew of players who don’t exactly look the part. Propelled by high-energy music and loveable characters\, Kacchey Limbu is an amusing and vibrant story of teamwork and self-discovery with enough comedy and camaraderie to appeal to the whole family. \nBuy a Series Pass to receive discounted admission to all 5 South Asian Film Festival films\, plus priority seating!
