They meet up with another adolescent\, run away from home\, and together roam the area free from their parents’ watchful eye. They discover freedom and enchantment among New Bedford’s boats and railway tracks. They fantasize about a life of luxury when they break into a posh home\, and are able to carry the taste of affluence into their adventures. The film celebrates their ability to make poetry and a joyful life out of hardship. The children come to represent a hope in our own resilience\, as the film is an ode to that trying age when young people prepare to take their first step into adulthood.

Please make sure to have your confirmation number ready to provide to the box officer at time of your reservation. \nThe 2019-2020 season opened with the diva of the 21st century\, Anna Netrebko\, in Tosca\, one of Puccini’s most “cinematic” operas and often described as a “thriller”. \nRiccardo Chailly proposed for this Tosca a critical version that included a few lines that Puccini had prepared for the world premiere of the opera in 1900 but were left out at the time. The production\, directed by Davide Livermore in cooperation with set designer Giò Forma chose a traditional setting\, and with the help of rotating parts of the stage\, which could also be elevated to show the action taking place on two different levels\, was able to create a wider space that could contain the side naves of the church of Sant’Andrea della Valle with the Attavanti chapel and the central altar in act one or the torture room below Scarpia’s office in act one. \nIn the title role\, soprano Anna Netrebko\, now at her third opening in five seasons\, was a magnificent Tosca. Her performance literally brought down the house. At her side\, tenor Francesco Meli lent his ringing voice to Cavaradossi. Luca Salsi played a compelling Scarpia\, evil minded and sneaky at the right point. A real luxury cast was bass-baritone Alfonso Antoniozzi in the role of the sacristan.

No matter how messy\, beginnings are exciting. Especially when what happens next endures the test of time. For Devo\, the beginning happened in the basements and garages of Akron\, Ohio. The songs they wrote were raw and unfiltered with no commercial intent. They called it Hardcore Devo. Performing 21 oddities\, this is a tribute to departed\, original Devo bandmate\, Robert “Bob 2” Casale. Filmed live on June 28\, 2014 at the Fox Theater in Oakland\, California.
