Directed by Ruggero Deodato\, this harrowing exploitation shocker pushed boundaries with its blend of cinéma vérité realism\, graphic violence\, and commentary on media sensationalism. Banned in multiple countries and famously mistaken for a snuff film upon release (leading to Deodato’s arrest)\, it remains one of the most controversial films ever made (not the least of which is due to the death of several animals on film). But beneath the gore lies a biting critique of Western imperialism and media ethics. The film rests on the mordant observation that zombies or no zombies\, chances are the living will tear each other apart\, cementing Cannibal Holocaust as not just a provocation\, but a pivotal—if deeply disturbing—milestone in horror history. \nThe film’s true intentions belie its deceptively simple concept; a university professor (Robert Kerman)\, is sent to the Amazon to determine the fate of a group of documentary filmmakers who were there to study remote cannibal tribes in an area known as The Green Inferno. What professor Monroe discovers is incomprehensible. The documentary crew—in an effort to capture more salacious footage—resorted to the rape\, torture and murder of their subjects\, only to subsequently meet that same fate themselves. \nDeodato’s film was not the first to wreak havoc on the international scene and it has surely proven to not be the last.  Nevertheless\, unlike so many other films defined as controversial in their day that have later proven to be tame—or even innocuous—as time wears on\, Cannibal Holocaust is still as unredeemable and unrelenting a spectacle as ever committed to celluloid. \nDue to graphic content\, including extreme violence and animal cruelty\, no one under 18 will be permitted. One thing that Frances does realize is that she has to work to survive in expensive New York\, since she is unable to rely on her parents for financial support. On a hot summer afternoon\, the First Savings Bank of Brooklyn is held up by Sonny Wortzik (Academy Award-winner Al Pacino) and his lover Sal (John Cazale). Although the bank manager and female tellers agree not to interfere with the robbery\, Sonny finds that there’s actually nothing much to steal\, as most of the cash has been picked up for the day. Sonny then gets an unexpected phone call from Police Captain Eugene Moretti (2-time Academy Award nominee\, Charles Durning)\, who tells him the place is surrounded by the city’s entire police force.

SUMMARY:Harold and Maude
DESCRIPTION:35mm Screening! \nYoung adult Harold Chasen (Bud Court)\, solitary and friendless by choice\, is obsessed with death\, this fascination manifesting itself in the staging his own fake suicides\, driving a hearse and attending funerals\, even of people he doesn’t know\, all to the chagrin of his exasperated wealthy mother with whom he lives. Mrs. Chasen is determined for Harold to be “normal”\, including her sending him into therapy to deal with his issues and finding him a girlfriend through a computer dating service. It is at a series of funerals that Harold meets Maude (Academy Award®-winner\, Ruth Gordon)\, on the cusp of her eightieth birthday\, she who too attends funerals of strangers. Unlike Harold\, Maude is obsessed with life – her own life to be more precise – she does whatever she wants to please herself\, damned what others may think or how they may be affected. Since she can’t take material possessions with her\, she is more interested in experiences\, with whatever material possessions she has – often “borrowed” without asking – only to further those experiences. Their friendship is initially based on how the other can further their own priority. But as Maude shows Harold how to truly live\, Harold falls in love with her. Their relationship\, already limited in time by the sheer math\, is curtailed even more as Maude shows him only not how to live well but die well.

To protect the anonymity of the eccentric\, hand-picked invitees\, cryptic butler Wadsworth (Tim Curry) and well-endowed French maid Yvette (Coleen Camp) have given them secret code names: Miss Scarlet (Lesley Ann Warren)\, Mrs Peacock (Eileen Brennan)\, Professor Plum (Christopher Lloyd)\, Colonel Mustard (Martin Mull)\, Mr Green (Michael McKean)\, Mrs White (Madeline Kahan)\, and Mr Boddy (Lee Ving).
