SUMMARY:The Blood of a Poet
DESCRIPTION:All free La CinOMAthéque screenings will take place in the Truist Auditorium at the Orlando Museum of Art. \nACCESS FOR ALL AT OMA presents: \nLa CinOMAthéque: A collaboration between OMA and Enzian\, with generous support provided by the Art Bridges Foundation’s Access for All program. \nThe Orlando Museum of Art is thrilled to announce the launch of La CinOMAthéque in partnership with the Enzian Theater\, as part of its “Access for All at OMA\,” an all-new program offering FREE admission to the museum! \nAccess for All at OMA is a monthly free day dedicated to the community. La CinOMAthéque will be a series of 6 bimonthly free screenings of experimental\, avant-garde\, art films in the Truist auditorium at OMA on Access for All day. \nEach screening will be introduced by a UCF film professor and include a talkback with OMA Chief Curator Coralie Claeysen-Gleyzon and Enzian Programming Manager Tim Anderson. \n____________________________________________________________ \nThe Blood of a Poet: \n“Poets . . . shed not only the red blood of their hearts but the white blood of their souls\,” proclaimed Jean Cocteau (La belle et la bête) of his groundbreaking first film—an exploration of the plight of the artist\, the power of metaphor and the relationship between art and dreams. \nIn a poet’s room\, an armless statue abruptly comes to life. It invites the poet to step through a mirror and to discover another world. Strange places and characters present themselves to him. The poet tears himself away from these twisted fascinations and returns\, with some difficulty\, to his room. \nOne of cinema’s great experiments\, this first installment of the Orphic Trilogy stretches the medium to its limits in an effort to capture the poet’s obsession with the struggle between the forces of life and death.
