However\, a Ramones concert is coming to town\, and Riff Randall\, the biggest Ramones fan at the high school\, plans on getting tickets to the concert in order to give them a song that she wrote entitled “Rock N’ Roll High School”. A series of events gets in the way of Riff’s plan and leads to a school evacuation by the police and an even more surprising ending!

Left incomplete due to money problems and assembled for release in 2000\, Downtown 81\, which follows Basquiat trying to move a painting while hustling for a place to sleep\, became a window on a lost world of life on the margins and crazy creative ferment. Featuring John Lurie\, Fab Five Freddy\, and Debbie Harry\, with musical performances by DNA\, James White and the Blacks\, and Kid Creole and the Coconuts—and Manhattan in all its mangy glory.

In it\, Micky Dolenz\, Davy Jones\, Michael Nesmith\, and Peter Tork become trapped in a kaleidoscopic satire that’s movie homage\, media send-up\, concert movie\, and antiwar cry all at once. A constantly looping\, self-referential spoof that was ahead of its time\, Head dodged commercial success on its release but has since been reclaimed as one of the great cult objects of its era.

Together with Experience drummer Mitch Mitchell and drummer Billy Cox\, Jimi skillfully blended favorites such as “Purple Haze\,” “All Along The Watchtower\,” and “Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)” with confident renditions of new songs such as “Freedom” and “Straight Ahead” that had not yet been released on album. As a colorful fireworks display stretched overhead across the night sky\, Jimi performed the “Star Spangled Banner” to the wild delight of the massive audience. \nThe performance footage of the Experience has been carefully restored from the original negative in high definition. The audio soundtrack includes stereo and 5.1 surround mixes by Eddie Kramer directly from the original master tapes.
