SUMMARY:Be Kind Rewind
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Florida Film Festival special guest Mia Farrow! \nFree movies on the Enzian lawn! \nWednesday Night Pitcher Shows are FREE and open to the public. Keep an eye on our Facebook for information about rescheduled shows due to weather. Free overflow parking is available at Park Maitland School and Peach Valley across the street. Outside food & beverage is not permitted. \nWant a reserved spot on the lawn with a bucket of beer and popcorn for your besties?  We have a limited number of exclusive picnic baskets for sale!  Grab one fast before they sell out. \nBe Kind Rewind: \nIn Passaic\, NJ\, Elroy Fletcher (Danny Glover) runs a video store in a condemned building he claims was the birthplace of jazz great Fats Waller. Fletcher goes on a Waller centennial trip\, leaving his foster son Mike (Jack Black) in charge of the store. Mike’s peculiar friend Jerry (Yasiin Bey aka Mos Def) tries to sabotage a power station and nearly electrocutes himself\, getting magnetized in the process – and inadvertently erasing every tape in the store. \nMike discovers the disaster and is further pressed when Fletcher’s acquaintance Miss Falewicz (Mia Farrow) wants to rent Ghostbusters. To prevent her from reporting a problem to Fletcher\, Mike comes up with an idea: as Miss Falewicz has never seen the movie\, he proposes to recreate the film with cheap special effects\, using himself and Jerry as the actors and hoping to fool her. Soon their homemade versions of films develop a cult following. Will this new business save the store and the building?

SUMMARY:An Evening with Mia Farrow\, featuring Rosemary's Baby
DESCRIPTION:The Florida Film Festival is honored to welcome Ms. Farrow to Enzian Theater to celebrate her phenomenal career. Following the film screening\, Ms. Farrow will be present for a Q&A with the audience. \nThis visiting artist event is presented through the kind generosity of Teresa Williams. \nRosemary’s Baby: \nRosemary Woodhouse (Mia Farrow in one of her most memorable roles)\, a young Catholic homemaker dreaming of starting a family\, and Guy (John Cassavetes)\, her struggling actor husband\, move into an imposing New York City building with a dark past. Surrounded by unsettling stories about mysterious residents and eerie occurrences\, the new tenants befriend Roman and Minnie Castevet (Ruth Gordon in an Academy Award® winning performance)\, their amiable next-door neighbors. Shortly after\, Rosemary gets pregnant and at last\, things are looking up. However\, as alarming hints of a sinister conspiracy emerge\, suspicion and mental anguish get the best of her. Undoubtedly\, the inexperienced mother-to-be is overreacting; no one wants to cut Rosemary off from her circle of friends. Then again\, why is everyone so conveniently eager to help? And above all else\, why is Guy allowing it? \nMia Farrow: \nMia Farrow has been called an icon of her generation. The first U.S. actress to be accepted as a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company\, she appeared on the first-ever cover of People Magazine. Born to director John Farrow (Around the World in 80 Days) and actress Maureen O’Sullivan (Tarzan the Ape Man)\, over her 60-year career she has been nominated for nine Golden Globes and three BAFTA awards\, appeared in culturally-defining projects from TV’s Peyton Place and Rosemary’s Baby to The Great Gatsby (opposite Robert Redford)\, Robert Altman’s A Wedding\, and legendary roles in Hannah and Her Sisters and Crimes and Misdemeanors\, up to her most recent turn as Pearl Winslow on the Netflix series The Watcher. In 2024\, she returned to Broadway\, starring opposite Patti LuPone in The Roommate. \nTickets to “An Evening with Mia Farrow\, featuring Rosemary’s Baby” are non-refundable. This event is part of the Florida Film Festival – table reservations are not available.

SUMMARY:Decasia (with Bill Morrison Q&A)
DESCRIPTION:All free La CinOMAthéque screenings will take place in the Truist Auditorium at the Orlando Museum of Art. \nACCESS FOR ALL AT OMA presents: \nLa CinOMAthéque: A collaboration between OMA and Enzian\, with generous support provided by the Art Bridges Foundation’s Access for All program. \nThe Orlando Museum of Art is thrilled to announce the launch of La CinOMAthéque in partnership with the Enzian Theater\, as part of its “Access for All at OMA\,” an all-new program offering FREE admission to the museum! \nAccess for All at OMA is a monthly free day dedicated to the community. La CinOMAthéque will be a series of 6 bimonthly free screenings of experimental\, avant-garde\, art films in the Truist auditorium at OMA on Access for All day. \nEach screening will be introduced by a UCF film professor and include a talkback with OMA Chief Curator Coralie Claeysen-Gleyzon and Enzian Programming Manager Tim Anderson. \n  \nDecasia: \nDirector Bill Morrison will join us for a Zoom Q&A following the film! \nAcademy Award®-nominee Bill Morrison’s (“Incident”\, Dawson City: Frozen Time) Decasia is an artful collage of found archival footage\, all of it shot pre-1950 on a cellulose nitrate base and most of it in advanced stages of decay. The footage is slowed to allow a greater appreciation of the effect and character of the visual damage to the original materials\, which include everything from fragments of silent melodramas to ethnographic studies\, travelogues\, newsreel footage and wildlife documentaries. The material is edited to a modernist symphonic score by Michael Gordon; the aural dissonance complements the visual decay.

SUMMARY:The Timekeepers of Eternity
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to your new favorite Stephen King adaptation. A found footage appropriation from filmmaker Aristotelis Maragkos\, The Timekeepers of Eternity was meticulously crafted by creating a new edit of King’s TV mini-series The Langoliers\, printing each frame to paper\, then animating it all into a brand new creature feature. \nBut there’s a method to the madness. In The Langoliers\, Mr. Toomey (played by an unhinged Bronson Pinchot) obsessively tears paper to overcome the traumatic events—and literal monsters—of his childhood. In “Timekeepers”\, the tears and creases of photocopied paper transform into a living collage where the filmmaker and protagonist slowly merge with a common goal: to make sense of the paper nightmare. \nFreaky Fridays ticket prices include a free popcorn and soda or lemonade for all attendees! Alcohol can be purchased at Eden Bar. Regular food service will not be available for Freaky Friday events. So\, come early\, and fuel up outside for the night ahead!

SUMMARY:Dogville
DESCRIPTION:Shot on a soundstage with chalk mark subbing for actual walls\, Danish filmmaker Lars von Trier’s Brechtian lament to a country he’s never visited is a formally audacious journey through the heart of small-town America via its chief protagonist Grace Mulligan (Nicole Kidman) who\, in hiding from her criminal father (James Caan)\, is taken in by the residents of a Colorado town. But as a search party grows nearer and the perceived threat over the town grows larger\, the ennui grows and the citizens of Dogville begin to show their teeth. \nIn challenging America’s vision of itself as a haven for asylum seekers and fostering of community\, von Trier — ever cinema’s sneering court jester — utilizes a stacked cast to torch such notions. An exasperating tome or a standing masterpiece of the Aughts\, DOGVILLE is ready for its reevaluation. \nCo-starring Paul Bettany\, Lauren Bacall\, Patricia Clarkson\, Philip Baker Hall\, Ben Gazzara\, John Hurt and Stellan Skarsgård\, Dogville might be the most audacious film in von Trier’s notorious decades-long career as a maverick provocateur.

SUMMARY:Dazed and Confused\, featuring Jason London
DESCRIPTION:Jason London joins us at Enzian for a special screening of Dazed and Confused\, featuring a post-film Q&A and Meet and Greet! \n“All I’m saying is that if I ever start referring to these as the best years of my life – remind me to kill myself.” – Randall “Pink” Floyd \nIt’s May 28\, 1976\, the last day of the year at Robert E. Lee High School. Kids are skipping class\, smoking weed\, and thinking about the big keg party at Kevin Pickford’s (Shawn Andrews) house. High on the mind of star football quarterback Randall “Pink” Floyd (Jason London) is the pledge the coach wants all the returning players to sign\, vowing that they won’t do drugs or drink during the summer break.  Pink is the only player who is holding out because he feels it infringes upon his individual rights. It’s also the traditional hazing day\, where seniors traumatize incoming freshmen\, among them Mitch Kramer (Wiley Wiggins). As day turns into night and as the keg party doesn’t end up quite as planned\, we follow these teens on a course that might just redefine who they are\, and who they will end up becoming. Like American Graffiti and Fast Times at Ridgemont High\, 5-time Academy Award® nominee Richard Linklater’s (Boyhood\, Before Sunrise) love letter to growing up in Central Texas in the 1970s is iconic for is soon-to-be-all-star cast including Matthew McConaughey\, Milla Jovovich\, Ben Afflack\, Parker Posey\, Cole Hauser\, Joey Lauren Adams\, Anthony Rapp\, Adam Goldberg\, Rory Cochrane\, Renee Zellweger and many others. \nCome out and celebrate as we welcome Jason London to Enzian to discuss this seminal coming of age film and his decades-long career. \nAfter the screening Mr. London will be available for a meet and greet with guests.* \n*No separate ticket needed for meet and greet.  \nPlease note: Member discounts and table reservations are not available for this screening. All sales are final. No refunds or exchanges.\n  \nAbout Jason London: \n \nActor/writer/producer Jason London got his start in the critically acclaimed film The Man in the Moon\, starring Reese Witherspoon in her first movie role. He is best known for his role as Randall ‘Pink’ Floyd in the cult classic Dazed and Confused. He is also known for the hit comedy Out Cold\, the horror film The Rage: Carrie 2\, Nightworld with Robert Englund\, Safe Passage with Susan Sarandon\, To Wong Foo\, Thanks for Everything Julie Newmar and dozens of independent movies. SUMMARY:Frances Ha
DESCRIPTION:35mm Screening! \nTwenty-seven-year-old Frances Halladay (4-time Academy Award®-nominee Greta Gerwig)\, originally of Sacramento\, California\, is trying to make it in New York City as a dancer\, as an apprentice in a modern dance troupe. Despite both being heterosexual\, she and her best friend\, Sophie (Mickey Sumner)\, who went to college together at Vassar\, consider themselves to be like an old\, married\, lesbian couple who don’t have sex with each other. Frances stumbles from one situation to another\, both in her professional and personal lives\, with her expectations and her abilities not always matching each other. In some respects\, she stays true to her slightly off-kilter visions without understanding that she doesn’t have the abilities to meet those visions. In other respects\, she sells herself short\, as when she and a male friend\, Benji\, kid each other that they are both undateable\, while deep in their hearts they wouldn’t mind dating each other. One thing that Frances does realize is that she has to work to survive in expensive New York\, since she is unable to rely on her parents for financial support. The question then becomes if Frances will be able to find balance for her life in New York. \nCo-written by Gerwig\, directed by 4-time Oscar-nominee Noah Baumbach (The Squid and the Whale) and featuring brilliant supporting turns by Oscar®-nominee Adam Driver and Grace Gummer (Mr. Robot)\, this award-winning indie homage to French New Wave cinema is often cited as the film that broke Gerwig into the Hollywood mainstream.

SUMMARY:The Other Side of the Underneath
DESCRIPTION:New 2K restoration by the British Film Institute! \nAdapting her play “A New Communion for Freaks\, Prophets and Witches”\, feminist and radical theatre icon Jane Arden assembles her all-female theatre troupe for a violent descent into the mind of a young woman labelled schizophrenic. \nComposed of different episodes brimming with psychoanalytic symbols and raw\, shocking\, heartbreaking footage\, each segment becomes the metaphorical backdrop for the creator’s reflections on self-exploration\, repressed guilt\, sexual deprivation\, freedom of expression\, emotional breakdown and the “other side” underneath. The film is harrowing\, nightmarish exploration of reason\, chaos and Arden’s own battles with mental illness that’s unlike anything audiences have seen before or since. \nSheila Allen (Children of the Damned)\, Ann Lynn (A Shot in the Dark)\, renowned visual artist Penny Slinger\, and Arden herself star in the only British feature film of the 1970s directed solely by a woman.

DESCRIPTION:2025 marks the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birth. In honor of this literary giant\, Enzian Theater and the Winter Park Library will celebrate with “A Year with Jane Austen”. Scheduled throughout the year\, The Winter Park Library will read each of Austen’s six novels as well as screen various adaptations of the accompanying films and miniseries at both the Library and at Enzian Theater. \nWelcome to a time where Empire-waisted wit is sharp\, and love is found in the most unexpected of places! Where the art of conversation is as important as the plot itself—often more so—and the pursuit of happiness is a delicate dance of propriety and passion. With our special “A Year with Austen” series\, you can sit back\, sip your tea\, and enjoy a romp through a pastoral landscape\, where everyone may be too proud or too prejudiced\, but they’re always too fabulous to resist! \nPersuasion: \n30th Anniversary! \nEight years ago\, Anne Elliot (Amanda Root\, Jane Eyre\, The Iron Lady) rejected Frederick Wentworth (Ciarán Hinds\, Harry Potter)\, the man she loved\, out of a sense of duty and obedience. Now an ignored and faded spinster\, she follows her financially stricken family from their home\, only to be reintroduced to the now successful and wealthy Captain Frederick Wentworth. With their roles reversed and Captain Wentworth the eligible and wealthy bachelor\, Anne navigates the scheming society that still tries to keep them apart in this lavish and sweeping romance from director Roger Michell (Notting Hill) and screenwriter Nick Dear (National Theater Live: Frankenstein).

DESCRIPTION:Screening as part of “Reel Pride” at Enzian! \nThis June\, celebrate the power of queer representation through a collection of bold\, groundbreaking\, and deeply human films. From enduring classics to emerging voices\, REEL PRIDE showcases a rich tapestry of experiences that reflect the diversity\, resilience\, and creativity of the LGBTQIA+ community. Join Enzian for an unforgettable series of films\, designed to generate conversations and foster community through the lens of great storytelling. \nVampyros Lesbos: \nIncludes a special introduction by Nicole Richter\, PhD\, author of “Bisexual Erasure in ‘Lesbian Vampire’ Film Theory.” In partnership with Dyke Nite Orlando. \nIn a career that spanned 57 years and over 200 films\, the Vatican once called Spanish exploitation maverick Jesus ‘Jess” Franco “the most dangerous director in the world”.  This\, his retelling of the “Dracula’s Guest” story has gained a following over the decades via its erotic flights of surreal imagery\, psychedelic soundtrack\, and iconic performance by Franco muse Soledad Miranda as the Countess and has been often cited (and programmed along with Jean Rollin) as a controversial but still recognizable foundational work of early queer cinema. \nEwa Strömberg (She Killed in Ecstasy) stars as Linda\, a woman with recurring dreams about a woman seducing her. When Linda’s sent to an island off the coast of Istanbul\, she meets the very Countess of those dreams. After quickly falling under the woman’s spell\, Linda finds she’s not the only one with an obsession for the Countess. With a thin plot to roll with\, Franco creates dazzling scenes of arty softcore bliss infused with psycho-sexedelic tunes. \nFreaky Fridays ticket prices include a free popcorn and soda or lemonade for all attendees! Alcohol can be purchased at Eden Bar. Regular food service will not be available for Freaky Friday events. So\, come early\, and fuel up outside for the night ahead!

\nMy Beautiful Laundrette: \n40th Anniversary Screening! \nCelebrating 40-years of Enzian Theater\, each month we will highlight a classic film from 1985 to illustrate the lasting impact of the films of the era and the legacy of Central Florida’s only non-profit arthouse movie theater.  Thank you for being part of our 4-decade contribution to arts culture in Orlando. \nEnzian Film Club: Summer School Edition\nSummer school is in session! Our Enzian Film Club professors are on a well-deserved vacation\, but you’ve still got a lot to learn. Join us June–August for screenings and talkbacks with Enzian programmers and community guests\, and keep your brain (or at least your social skills) sharp until our return to class in September. It might not be Driver’s Ed\, but it’s better than independent study. \n  \nFeat. a post-film “Enzian Film Club” discussion with GLAAD Media Award recipient Barry Sandler!  \nStephen Frears (Dangerous Liaisons\, The Queen) was at the forefront of the British cinematic revival of the mid-1980s\, and the delightfully transgressive My Beautiful Laundrette is his greatest triumph of the period. Working from an Oscar®-nominated script by Hanif Kureishi\, who was soon to be an internationally renowned writer\, Frears tells an uncommon love story that takes place between a young South London Pakistani man (Gordon Warnecke)\, who decides to open an upscale laundromat to make his family proud\, and his childhood friend\, a street punk (3-time Academy® Award winner Daniel Day-Lewis\, in his breakthrough role) who volunteers to help make his dream a reality. This culture-clash comedy is also a subversive work of social realism that dares to address racism\, homophobia\, and sociopolitical marginalization in Margaret Thatcher’s England. \nAbout Barry Sandler: \nBarry Sandler (Crimes of Passion\, The Other Side of Midnight) is a pioneering screenwriter best known for Making Love (1982)\, the first major studio film to depict LGBTQIA+ characters positively. The film was recently honored with a 40th anniversary celebration by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. In 2002\, The Advocate named him one of America’s most influential gay artists. Since 2003\, he has taught screenwriting and film history at the University of Central Florida. Sandler’s work has also earned numerous honors\, including the GLAAD Media Award and the Outfest Gay Pioneer Award.

SUMMARY:It’s All Gonna Break: Broken Social Scene
DESCRIPTION:Come early for live music at Eden Bar from 6:30-9:30pm! \nImagine being a fly on the wall at the birth of a musical movement that would change indie rock forever. \nIt’s All Gonna Break pulls back the curtain on the raw\, unfiltered moments that led to the rise of Broken Social Scene\, the beloved indie collective that shaped the sound of the early 2000s. From beer-soaked Toronto bars to festival stages across North America and Europe\, this documentary immerses audiences in the energy\, chaos\, and creativity that fueled one of Canada’s most influential bands. \nTold through the lens of filmmaker Stephen Chung\, who was just a young artist capturing his friends making music\, partying\, and living in the moment\, this never-before-seen archival footage reveals how a tight-knit group of musicians\, lovers\, and dreamers unwittingly built a worldwide phenomenon. At the heart of the film is the making of their breakthrough album\, You Forgot It In People—a record that redefined indie music and became a cornerstone of the genre. \nMore than just a behind-the-scenes look\, It’s All Gonna Break is a story of friendship\, ambition\, and the messy\, beautiful process of creating something truly lasting. It’s about how art is made\, how it’s protected\, how relationships evolve—and what happens when a group of friends suddenly finds themselves at the center of a movement. Because at some point\, we all have to grow up. But first\, we make music. A love letter to independent music\, It’s All Gonna Break is a vibrant time capsule of a pre-digital era and a moving reflection on friendship\, art\, and the freedom to create on your own terms.

An ominous soundtrack provided by American vocalist and composer Imani Uzuri narrates: \n“Come by here.”\n“She got a right to the tree of her life.”\n“Someone’s praying.”\n“Just like a dream.” \nBey reflects upon his time visiting Evergreen Plantation\, which was halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic: “Returning to Louisiana recently only reinforced my belief that we forget history. . . and that calling it to remembrance — as I do in my work — keeps us alert and responsive to the presence of those horrific pieces of a past\, which\, left untended\, can return to haunt us yet again.” Void of human subjects\, Evergreen is a multisensory meditation on the historical traumas that linger in our nation.

SUMMARY:The Wild Bunch: Director's Cut
DESCRIPTION:100 Years of Sam Peckinpah \nBorn in Fresno\, California\, Sam Peckinpah (1925 – 1984) served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II before studying drama and film at USC. An iconic Oscar®-nominated “tough-guy” screenwriter and director\, “Bloody Sam” cut his teeth writing for TV westerns in the 1950s\, first came to fame with Ride the High Country (1962)\, and solidified his reputation with The Wild Bunch (1969). Peckinpah followed that—now legendary—film with the succession of Straw Dogs (1971)\, The Getaway (1972)\, Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid (1973) and Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia (1974) cementing his legacy as master-chronicler of the decline of the Old West as well as a gritty contemporary storyteller. His influence can be felt in the work of John Woo (The Killer\, Hard Boiled)\, Robert Rodriguez (El Mariachi)\, Quentin Tarantino and Peckinpah’s own protégé protégé Walter Hill (The Warriors).  Join Enzian as we celebrate the 100th birthday of Sam Peckinpah with a screening of his masterwork\, The Wild Bunch! \nThe Wild Bunch: Director’s Cut \nSet in 1913 on the verge of modern America\, The Wild Bunch follows a group of aging outlaws led by Pike Bishop (William Holden) who are struggling to survive in a changing world where the Old West is vanishing. After a botched railroad office robbery\, the gang—composed of veterans like Dutch Engstrom (Ernest Borgnine) and the Gorch brothers (Warren Oates and Ben Johnson)—flees to Mexico\, pursued relentlessly by a posse led by Pike’s former partner-turned-bounty hunter\, Deke Thornton (Robert Ryan). \nIn Mexico\, the gang becomes entangled with a corrupt Mexican general\, Mapache\, agreeing to steal a shipment of U.S. Army weapons for him. But as violence escalates and loyalties fray\, the outlaws are forced to confront their own code of honor amid betrayal\, shifting allegiances\, and the harsh realities of a new world. \nDirected by Sam Peckinpah\, The Wild Bunch is renowned for its revolutionary editing\, graphic violence\, and exploration of fading masculinity\, making it a landmark in revisionist Western cinema.
