SUMMARY:White Christmas
DESCRIPTION:Screening as part of the Enzian Holiday Series! \nCelebrate the season with Bing Crosby\, Danny Kaye\, Rosemary Clooney\, and Vera-Ellen in the timeless VistaVision musical White Christmas. There\, they run into Gen. Waverly (Dean Jagger\, Twelve O’Clock High)\, the boys’ commander in World War II\, who\, they learn\, is having financial difficulties. His quaint country inn is failing\, so what’s the foursome to do but plan a yuletide miracle: a fun-filled musical extravaganza that’s sure to put Waverly and his business in the black!

SUMMARY:Black Christmas (1974)
DESCRIPTION:Screening as part of the Enzian Holiday Series! \nFree movies on the Enzian lawn! \nWednesday Night Pitcher Shows are FREE and open to the public. Keep an eye on our Facebook for information about rescheduled shows due to weather. Free overflow parking is available at Park Maitland School and Peach Valley across the street. Outside food & beverage is not permitted. \nWant a reserved spot on the lawn with a bucket of beer and popcorn for your besties?  We have a limited number of exclusive picnic baskets for sale!  Grab one fast before they sell out. \nBlack Christmas: \n4K Restoration \nHoliday movies are sentimental and uplifting\, but surprisingly devoid of knife murders. BLACK CHRISTMAS—one of the most influential Hitchcockian slashers of all time—is here to help. \nWhen sorority sisters Olivia Hussey (Romeo and Juliet\, Stephen King’s It)\, Margot Kidder (Superman)\, and Andrea Martin (My Big Fat Greek Wedding) find themselves under attack from a foul-mouthed killer\, it’s up to police chief John Saxon (A Nightmare on Elm Street) to even the odds. But what about Keir Dullea (2001: A Space Odyssey)\, the brooding art-school pianist? Could he have something to do with the mutilation rampage? \nBlack Christmas is a terrifying and demented holiday tradition that gets everything right. We’d expect nothing less from Bob Clark\, the pioneering director of A Christmas Story.

SUMMARY:Un Chien Andalou (with Live Score)
DESCRIPTION:All free La CinOMAthéque screenings will take place in the Truist Auditorium at the Orlando Museum of Art. \nACCESS FOR ALL AT OMA presents: \nLa CinOMAthéque: A collaboration between OMA and Enzian\, with generous support provided by the Art Bridges Foundation’s Access for All program. \nThe Orlando Museum of Art is thrilled to announce the launch of La CinOMAthéque in partnership with the Enzian Theater\, as part of its “Access for All at OMA\,” an all-new program offering FREE admission to the museum! \nAccess for All at OMA is a monthly free day dedicated to the community. La CinOMAthéque will be a series of 6 bimonthly free screenings of experimental\, avant-garde\, art films in the Truist auditorium at OMA on Access for All day. \nEach screening will be introduced by a UCF film professor and include a talkback with OMA Chief Curator Coralie Claeysen-Gleyzon and Enzian Programming Manager Tim Anderson. \n  \nUn Chien Andalou: \n Featuring a live Score by Tinnitus Rex! \nA barrage of striking and irrational images\, designed to provoke\, are presented in a disjointed chronology\, jumping from the initial “once upon a time” to “eight years later” without the events or characters changing\, evoking a dream logic as its narrative flow. \nLuis Buñuel’s legendary first film\, Un Chien Andalou written with Salvador Dalí\, created a scandal at its premiere and its startling eye-slicing opening sequence has continued to shock viewers ever since. Despite Buñuel and Dalí’s energetic rejections of any rational meaning in the film\, Un Chien Andalou is an exploration of desire and the obstacles in the path of instinctual passion\, equally indebted to Surrealism and Freud and represents the first film in what is now considered the golden age of the avant-garde.

SUMMARY:Rare Exports
DESCRIPTION:An Enzian Holiday Tradition! Screening as part of the Enzian Holiday Series! \nIt’s the eve of Christmas in northern Finland\, and an ‘archeological’ dig has just unearthed the real Santa Claus. But this particular Santa isn’t the one you want coming to town. When the local children begin mysteriously disappearing\, young Pietari and his father Rauno\, a reindeer hunter by trade\, capture the mythological being and attempt to sell Santa to the misguided leader of the multinational corporation sponsoring the dig. Santa’s elves\, however\, will stop at nothing to free their fearless leader from captivity. What ensues is a wildly humorous nightmare – a fantastically bizarre polemic on modern day morality.

SUMMARY:It's A Wonderful Life
DESCRIPTION:Screening as part of the Enzian Holiday Series! \nFrank Capra’s paean to small-town values and the ordinary guy who does the right thing is a classic story of redemption and second chances\, with James Stewart as a man who’s come to the end of his rope one Christmas Eve and Donna Reed as the high-school sweetheart who became his wife. The supporting cast includes Lionel Barrymore\, Beulah Bondi\, Ward Bond and Gloria Grahame. \nIT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE was the first release from Liberty Films\, the pioneering independent label founded by Capra and fellow producer-directors William Wyler and George Stevens and went on to become not just a perennial holiday favorite\, but one of the most beloved of all American movies. \nAfter George Bailey (James Stewart) wishes he had never been born\, an angel (Henry Travers) is sent to earth to make George’s wish come true. George starts to realize how many lives he has changed and impacted\, and how they would be different if he was never there.

SUMMARY:The Apartment
DESCRIPTION:New 4K Restoration! 65th Anniversary! Screening as part of the Enzian Holiday Series! \nJack Lemmon stars as C.C. “Bud” Baxter\, an ambitious insurance clerk who lends his Manhattan apartment to company executives for their extramarital escapades. When he falls for elevator operator Fran Kubelik (the original manic pixie dream girl Shirley MacLaine)\, he finds himself caught between career and conscience. \nA sharp blend of wit and romance\, The Apartment marked the third collaboration between Lemmon and writer-director Billy Wilder\, following Some Like It Hot. The film swept the 1961 Academy Awards®\, winning Best Picture\, Best Director\, Best Screenplay\, and earning Lemmon’s third Oscar nomination for his poignant performance. More than six decades later\, The Apartment remains a benchmark of sophisticated comedy and a testament to Lemmon’s rare ability to balance humor with heartbreaking sincerity—proof that few stars ever embody the human spirit on screen quite like Jack Lemmon. \nCelebrating 100 Years of Jack Lemmon: \nOne of Hollywood’s most beloved and versatile actors\, Jack Lemmon was born in Newton\, Massachusetts in 1925. Over seven decades\, his career moved effortlessly between comedy and drama in iconic films as diverse as Some Like It Hot\, The Apartment\, Days of Wine and Roses\, The Odd Couple and Glengarry Glen Ross. A two-time Academy Award winner (Mister Roberts and Save the Tiger) and eight-time nominee\, Lemmon embodied the “everyman” with charm\, wit\, and vulnerability\, setting a standard that influenced generations of performers. From his collaborations with Billy Wilder to his enduring partnership with Walter Matthau (10 films)\, Lemmon’s warmth and humanity continues to resonate across film history and popular culture a century after his birth.

SUMMARY:Batman Returns
DESCRIPTION:35mm Screening! Screening as part of the Enzian Holiday Series! \nTim Burton’s darkly stylish sequel blends comic book spectacle with gothic fairytale\, cementing Burton’s singular vision of Gotham City. The film reunited Michael Keaton as the brooding Bruce Wayne/Batman\, while introducing two of the franchise’s most memorable villains: Danny DeVito as Oswald Cobblepot\, a grotesque yet tragic incarnation of The Penguin\, and Michelle Pfeiffer as Selina Kyle/Catwoman\, whose feline alter ego became one of the most iconic antiheroines in film history. \nAmid Gotham’s snowy\, neon-lit Christmas\, Batman faces chaos as The Penguin’s circus gang terrorizes the city and corrupt tycoon Max Shreck (Christopher Walken) schemes to drain its energy. After Shreck’s secretary Selina Kyle is reborn as Catwoman\, the trios intertwined destinies collide in a tragic showdown of betrayal\, desire\, and destruction. \nUpon release\, Batman Returns was notable for its strikingly dark tone and twisted holiday imagery—where Christmas cheer is subverted into a nightmare of consumerism\, corruption\, and fractured identities. Though controversial for its violence and mature themes (leading to a backlash from parents’ groups and toy companies)\, the film has since earned a reputation as a bold\, gothic outlier in the history of superhero movies.
