We appreciate your support! \nClick Here to Stream F.T.A. » \n“The Show the Pentagon Couldn’t Stop!” In 1971\, at the height of the Vietnam War\, Jane Fonda and Donald Sutherland toured an anti-war comedy show across Southeast Asia. It was directly engaged with and inspired by veterans against the war and\, naturally\, it upset U.S. military higher-ups. The F.T.A. tour was highly controversial and was a huge success among stationed soldiers. In spite of positive reviews and business\, director Francine Parker’s film version was quickly taken out of circulation due to political pressures and has been difficult to see for decades.  \nF.T.A. has now been fully restored in 4K by IndieCollect and is preceded by a new video introduction by Academy Award-winning actor and activist Jane Fonda\, which provides historical context and explains the impetus that sparked the creation of the F.T.A. troupe.

SUMMARY:Me and You and Everyone We Know
DESCRIPTION:With this compassionate\, startling comedy that could have come from no other artistic sensibility\, the brilliant Miranda July reveals a world both familiar and strange—an original vision of creativity\, sexuality\, childhood\, and loneliness that emerges from a series of braided vignettes around a pair of potential lovers: Richard\, a newly single shoe salesman and father of two (John Hawkes)\, and Christine\, a lonely video artist and “Eldercab” driver (July). While they take hesitant steps toward romance\, Richard’s sons follow their own curiosity toward their first sexual experiences\, online and in real life\, venturing into uncharted territories in their attempts to connect with others. Playful and profoundly transgressive\, Me and You and Everyone We Know is a poetic look at the tortuous routes we take to intimacy in an isolating world\, and the moments of magic and redemption that unite us.

SUMMARY:The Changin’ Times of Ike White
DESCRIPTION:Come early to hear live music by Antoninus Band at Eden Bar from 6:30-9:30PM\, courtesy of Performing Arts Matter! \nCertified Fresh with 100% on Rotten Tomatoes! \nServing a life sentence for murder in the early 1970s\, music prodigy Ike White had plenty of time to perfect his musical talent\, but no hope of putting it to use in the outside world. Ike’s skills were exceptional enough\, though\, that his story captured the media’s attention. From this notoriety\, he was able to record an album inside the prison with big-time producer Jerry Goldstein (War\, Sly and the Family Stone). Superstar Stevie Wonder lobbied successfully for Ike’s early release from prison. With an acclaimed album under his belt and the support of Wonder and others in the industry\, Ike was poised for stardom. But\, instead\, he went off the grid for over 40 years. Daniel Vernon’s mesmerizing new documentary is unpredictable and moving\, echoing the strange journey of Ike White.

We appreciate your support! \nClick Here to Stream Long Live Rock » \nLong Live Rock: Celebrate the Chaos is a deep dive into the culture of hard rock music.  This genre\, beloved by its millions of fans\, is often misunderstood and maligned by media and the music industry. In intimate interviews\, the leading titans of rock discuss the genre and the special relationship they have with their audience. Featuring members of Metallica\, Guns N’ Roses\, Slipknot\, Korn\, Avenged Sevenfold\, Rob Zombie\, Five Finger Death Punch\, Rage Against the Machine\, Greta Van Fleet\, Halestorm\, and many\, many more. \nThe film also explores the inescapable dark side of their chosen lifestyle\, chronicling the unspoken truths that are unfortunately too commonplace in the rock ‘n roll world for both artists and fans\, such as substance abuse and depression.  \nViewers will get a front row seat of what makes hard rock fans want to crowd surf\, mix it up in the mosh pit or just throw all caution to the wind by participating in the ultimate community mayhem of the “Wall of Death.” We follow some of these passionate fans as they drop everything to “commune” with their “rock family” at music festivals across the U.S. – or wherever the road takes them to celebrate the chaos…that is rock ‘n roll.

As New York City became the epicenter of the AIDS epidemic in the 1980s\, Wojnarowicz weaponized his work and waged war against the establishment’s indifference to the plague until his death from it in 1992 at the age of 37. \nExclusive access to his breathtaking body of work – including paintings\, journals\, and films – reveals how Wojnarowicz emptied his life into his art and activism. Rediscovered answering machine tape recordings and intimate recollections from Fran Lebowitz\, Gracie Mansion\, Peter Hujar\, and other friends and family help present a stirring portrait of this fiercely political\, unapologetically queer artist.

SUMMARY:Salò\, or the 120 Days of Sodom
DESCRIPTION:Due to graphic content\, no one under 18 will be permitted to this film. \nPier Paolo Pasolini’s 1975 film Salo is the story of a group of Italy’s fascist elite in the waning days of World War II\, who kidnap 18 teenage boys and girls and seclude themselves in a palatial mansion to act out a series of increasingly violent scenarios upon their captives and each other. The film\, which takes its structure from Dante’s “Inferno\,” was damned by its critics upon release as one of the most vicious collections of horrifying images ever committed to celluloid. And even today\, 45 years after the film was shot\, it remains an impressively disconcerting masterpiece of degradation and cruelty. \nAn adaptation of the novel “The 120 Days of Sodom” by Libertine author the Marquis de Sade\, Salo represents a marked departure from the “Trilogy of Life” films that had thrust Pasolini broadly into the international spotlight. Salo was the directors 12th feature film in just 14 years\, but it was hardly the first to bring notice to his portrayal of frank and explicit sexuality. Past productions like The Decameron paved the way for the maestro to sink his teeth into the hell that is de Sade’s novel.    \nThe film transports de Sade’s 18th century novel from France to Italy\, and takes its nom de plume from the Northern Italian town where Benito Mussolini presided over the last days of his failed Socialist Republic–declaring with no uncertain terms Pasolini’s intent to make a film that addressed the egregious corruption of Italian politics\, and the atrocities committed under Mussolini’s reign while the country sat by idly and did little to nothing to stop it. \nJust 20 days before the film’s World Premiere at the Paris Film Festival\, Pasolini was found dead—having been murdered—allegedly by a male prostitute. Without the filmmaker alive to justify the films atrocities\, the furor that followed the premiere would rock the international film community even more than the scandalous death of its creator\, leading to production bans and wild theories about purpose and content which resulted in the film spending the better part of the 70’s\, 80’s and 90’s barred from cinemas in Europe and North America.

We wander\, dreamlike\, gently guided by our Scheherazade-esque narrator. Inconsequential moments take on the same significance as historical events: a couple floats over a war-torn Cologne; on the way to a birthday party\, a father stops to tie his daughter’s shoelaces in the pouring rain; teenage girls dance outside a cafe; a defeated army marches to a prisoner-of-war camp. Simultaneously an ode and a lament\, About Endlessness presents a kaleidoscope of all that is eternally human\, an infinite story of the vulnerability of existence.

Bill Traylor was born into slavery in 1853 on a cotton plantation in rural Alabama. Using historical and cultural context\, the film is designed to bring the spirit and mystery of Traylor’s incomparable art to life. After the Civil War\, Traylor continued to farm the land until the late 1920s. Aging and alone\, he moved to Montgomery and worked odd jobs in the thriving segregated black neighborhood. A decade later\, in his late 80s\, Traylor became homeless and started to draw and paint\, both memories from plantation days and scenes of a radically changing urban culture. Traylor devised his own visual language to record the stories of his life\, translating an oral culture into something original\, powerful\, and culturally rooted. He made well over a thousand drawings and paintings between 1939-1942. Traylor witnessed profound social and political change during his life spanning slavery\, Reconstruction\, Jim Crow laws\, and the Great Migration. The transcendent surprise is while Traylor kept to himself leading an unassuming life\, he was nurturing a remarkable creative gift that would not be expressed for decades. Tap dance\, evocative period music and spoken word are used in dramatic and surprising ways in the film\, balanced with archival photographs and footage\, insightful perspectives from Traylor family members\, and Traylor’s striking drawings and paintings\, to reveal one of America’s most prominent artists to a wide audience.
