The job is designed to keep the ex-con busy\, but Daniel has a higher calling. Over the course of his incarceration he has found Christ\, and aspires to join the clergy – but his criminal record means no seminary will accept him. When Daniel arrives in town\, one quick lie allows him to be mistaken for the town’s new priest\, and he sets about leading his newfound flock. Though he has no training\, his passion and charisma inspire the community. At the same time\, his unconventional sermons and unpriestly behavior raise suspicions among some of the townsfolk – even more so as he edges towards a dark secret that the community hasn’t revealed in the confessional booth.

SUMMARY:Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets: Live at the Roundhouse
DESCRIPTION:Live at the Roundhouse is unlike any other concert film connected with Pink Floyd. It’s the nearest thing you can get to a time machine\, transporting you back to the very earliest days of the band. Nick Mason\, the only band member to have played on all of Pink Floyd’s studio albums\, returns to the group’s earliest records\, joined in the line-up by Gary Kemp\, Guy Pratt\, Lee Harris and Dom Beken. \nNick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets took the drummer back to clubs for the first time in 1967\, then to theatres\, across the UK\, North America and Europe\, playing only music his old band had recorded before The Dark Side of the Moon. \nCaptured from the band’s celebrated shows at London’s Roundhouse\, where Pink Floyd played some of their most revered early shows in the 1960s\, the film features a uniquely thrilling set list including songs hailing from Syd Barrett’s time with the band. Only four songs from this eclectic roster have ever previously appeared on official live releases by Pink Floyd or its members. Everything else is being experienced for the first time since their original live performances.  \nThis theatrical event also includes a Q&A with Nick Mason and the band where they will answer questions submitted by fans\, exclusive to cinemas.

SUMMARY:Persepolis
DESCRIPTION:Stay with us after the screening for a Q&A discussion led by Professor Jeremy Carnes\, who is an instructor of English at Rollins College and a scholar of graphic novels and comics. \nPersepolis is the poignant story of a young girl coming-of-age in Iran during the Islamic Revolution. It is through the eyes of precocious and outspoken nine-year-old Marjane that we see a people’s hopes dashed as fundamentalists take power — forcing the veil on women and imprisoning thousands. Clever and fearless\, she outsmarts the “social guardians” and discovers punk\, ABBA and Iron Maiden. Yet when her uncle is senselessly executed and as bombs fall around Tehran in the Iran/Iraq war the daily fear that permeates life in Iran is palpable. As she gets older\, Marjane’s boldness causes her parents to worry over her continued safety. And so\, at age fourteen\, they make the difficult decision to send her to school in Austria. Vulnerable and alone in a strange land\, she endures the typical ordeals of a teenager. In addition\, Marjane has to combat being equated with the religious fundamentalism and extremism she fled her country to escape. Over time\, she gains acceptance\, and even experiences love.

SUMMARY:VHYes
DESCRIPTION:One Week Only! \nFans of Director Jack Henry Robbins’s hilarious PBS inspired short film “Painting with Joan” from the 2018 Florida Film Festival get read to push play on all the analog glory that is VHYes. \nA bizarre retro comedy shot entirely on a VHS camcorder\, VHYes takes us back to a simpler time\, when twelve-year-old Ralph mistakenly records home videos and his favorite late night shows over his parents’ wedding tape. The result is a nostalgic wave of home shopping clips\, censored pornography\, and nefarious true-crime tales that threaten to unkindly rewind Ralph’s reality. Featuring riotous guest appearances from Kerry Kinney\, Thomas Lennon\, Charlyne Yi\, Tim Robbins\, and Susan Sarandon\, and produced by University of Central Florida alumnus Delaney Schenker\, this is one nostalgia trip where adjusting the tracking won’t help at all.

SUMMARY:After Parkland
DESCRIPTION:In the days after the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in 2018 that killed 17 people and launched a nationwide student movement\, filmmakers Emily Taguchi and Jake Lefferman embedded with students and families whose lives were forever transformed. They include senior David Hogg\, who recorded his class during the attack and became the face of the Never Again movement; freshman Brooke Harrison\, who was in the first classroom under attack; Sam Zeif\, a senior who was locked down in the same building\, texting with his little brother and unsure if they would ever see each other again; Andrew Pollack\, the father of 18-year-old Meadow\, who was killed after being shot nine times; and the loved ones of 17-year-old Joaquin Oliver\, including his parents Manuel and Patricia\, girlfriend Victoria Gonzalez\, and best friend Dillon McCooty. The filmmakers developed trusting relationships with these students and families\, who opened their doors during some of the most difficult moments of their lives\, and followed their private journeys as they rose to challenge the nation to end gun violence. Weaving together candid\, in-depth interviews\, vérité footage\, and personal videos\, the film chronicles moments both intimate and defining – from the quiet hours of grief and reflection\, to those of political awakening\, and onto milestones on the public stage – creating a moving portrait of one community’s crusade to turn tragedy into progress. \nAfter Parkland will screen in over 100 theaters across the U.S. on February 12 as part of a nationwide Day of Action to commemorate the second anniversary of the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting. Click here for more information and a complete list of participating theaters.

SUMMARY:Color Out of Space
DESCRIPTION:One Week Only! \nWhen an iridescent meteorite plummets from outer space and into the property and foundations of a remote New England estate\, a malignant force begins to insidiously permeate the lives of an unassuming family. The effects are gradual — time begins to dilate\, nature assumes an otherworldly hue — and all things bright and beautiful eventually mutate and corrupt under its influence. So proceeds this eerie adaptation of the short story by H.P. Lovecraft\, one of horror’s most haunting\, here presented by the enigmatic South African filmmaker Richard Stanley. \nThe patriarch of this doomed brood is none other than Nicolas Cage\, continuing his recent renaissance as a midnight-movie staple with an increasingly unhinged “Rage Cage” performance. The rest of the ensemble\, which includes Joely Richardson and Tommy Chong\, play effective foils to Cage’s delirium\, but the real star of the show is the alien entity itself. This all-consuming\, dispassionate menace manifests itself in a series of grotesque\, body-horror\, and psychedelic spectacles\, worthy of its ineffable literary origins.

DESCRIPTION:One Week Only! \nLed by Emmy nominated\, DGA and BAFTA® award-winning director Michael Apted throughout the decades\, this groundbreaking documentary anthology has now reached 63 Up\, gaining further illuminating insight into its premise of asking whether or not our adult lives are pre-determined by our earliest influences and the social class in which we are raised. An issue as relevant to our society now as when the series first appeared. The documentary film reveals more life-changing decisions\, more shocking announcements and joy and tears in equal measure. \nThe original Seven Up was broadcast as a one-off World in Action Special inspired by the founding editor Tim Hewat’s passionate interest in the Jesuit saying\, “Give me the child until he is seven\, and I will give you the man\,” and his anger at what he saw as the rigidity of social class in England. Seven Up featured the children talking about their hopes and dreams for the future. As members of the generation who would be running the country by the year 2000\, what did they think they would become? \nThe result was ground-breaking and the follow-up films every seven years have won an array of awards. \nDirector Michael Apted\, who moved to Hollywood in the late 70s to direct films including award-winning film Coal Miner’s Daughter\, The World Is Not Enough\, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and Gorillas in the Mist\, has returned every seven years to chart the children’s progress through life. \nOver six decades\, the films have documented the group as they became adults and entered middle-age\, dealing with everything life has thrown at them in between. Now\, as the group reaches retirement age\, the film is back to discover what they are doing.

SUMMARY:Color Out of Space
DESCRIPTION:One Night Only! \nThis special sneak peek screening will include exclusive additional content after the credits!
