DESCRIPTION:One Week Only! \nFifth Generation director Zhang Yimou returns true to form with Shadow\, which just flows across the screen with undulating fabric\, hair\, action\, and editing\, reminiscent of the likes of Hero and House of Flying Daggers. Based on the eponymous Romance of the Three Kingdoms\, the title refers to Commander Yu (Hu Jun\, John Woo’s Red Cliff)\, really a peasant\, who doubles for the sickly Yu\, a crazed master who works in collusion with his wife. There’s lots of “Dallas in the Palace” in this intrigue\, and even if audiences are unfamiliar with the saga\, there’s enough exposition\, effortlessly handled\, to bring us up to speed. All the tropes of an action drama are here: difficult taskmasters and dedicated practice\, phenomenal swordplay\, unusual weaponry (umbrella weapons literally float down a mountain)\, jealousy\, intrigue and revenge\, and a bamboo forest allusion. The title also alludes to its dark palette and vision— “power games and war never tasted the beauty of the world.” Well\, Zhang gives us beauty but also raises the lantern with issues about contemporary China worth consideration.

DESCRIPTION:In 1972\, Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin was at the top of her game\, having racked up eleven number-one singles and five Grammys. For her next record\, she returned to her roots\, recording a live gospel album at Watts New Temple Baptist Church. Director Sydney Pollack was hired to shoot the performances\, but due to sound issues\, the footage couldn’t be synced with the audio\, and it vanished into the studio’s vaults\, deemed unsalvageable. It became the Holy Grail of lost music films and finally\, after 46 years of legal wrangling\, technology improvements\, and the deaths of both Pollack and Franklin\, these magnificent performances were readied for the screen. The result is an extraordinary document. The Queen herself is totally focused—delivering uncluttered\, thrilling performances of gospel standards and reimagined contemporary songs. Except for her singing\, she remains nearly wordless throughout the film. Instead\, gospel legend Reverend James Cleveland serves as M.C.\, sermonizer\, and court jester. An enthusiastic congregation testify throughout\, and Aretha’s father—Revered C.L. Franklin—shows up to preach the good book and wipe sweat from his daughter’s forehead mid-song. At that moment\, the audience knew that the Queen of Soul—despite her stardom in the secular world—remained first and foremost a child of the church.

However\, they are about to fail their history class\, which means Ted would be sent to military school. They receive help from Rufus (George Carlin)\, a traveler from a future where their band is the foundation for a perfect society. With the use of Rufus’ time machine\, Bill and Ted travel to various points in history\, returning with important figures to help them complete their final history presentation.

Truck driver Bo “Bandit” Darville (Burt Reynolds) agrees to pick up the beer in Texas and drive it to Georgia within 28 hours. When Bo picks up hitchhiker Carrie (Sally Field)\, he attracts the attention of Sheriff Buford T. Justice (Jackie Gleason). Angry that Carrie will not marry his son\, Justice embarks on a high-speed chase after Bandit.
