SUMMARY:Martyrs
DESCRIPTION:Screening as part of the 13+ Films of Halloween. \nOne of the most disturbing and divisive entries in the French Extremity movement\, this brutal psychological horror film written and directed by Pascal Laugier follows Lucie (Mylène Jampanoï)\, a young woman who escapes a childhood of unspeakable abuse and\, years later\, tracks down the people she believes were responsible. Accompanied by her close friend Anna (Morjana Alaoui)\, Lucie enacts a violent revenge plan—only to uncover a far more horrific truth hidden beneath the surface.  \nUpon its release\, Martyrs ignited fierce controversy for its unrelenting violence\, graphic imagery\, and emotionally devastating themes. The film garnered a notorious reputation after audience members attending the premiere at the Cannes Film Festival were left wide-eyed and mouth agape. Its reception was so shocking\, it was immediately threatened with censorship in its home country\, with calls for the director to be imprisoned. MARTYRS is a brutally confronting and provocative example of the French New Extremity\, a work of dark brilliance and vile beauty. A genre-defining classic so profoundly traumatizing\, it transcends all constraints of your average horror film and dives into the murky depths of human degradation and suffering. It’s not just a film you watch; it’s a film you survive. \nDue to graphic content\, no one under 18 will be permitted to this film. For more information\, please see the IMDB Parents Guide for this film. \nTry one of our 13 Cocktails of Halloween\, available at Eden Bar starting October 1: \n \nTHE FINAL STAGE\nGrapefruit Rose Vodka\, Champagne\, Strawberry\, Lemon

SUMMARY:Mrs. Warren’s Profession
DESCRIPTION:Five-time Olivier Award-winner Imelda Staunton (The Crown) joins forces with her real-life daughter Bessie Carter (Bridgerton) for the very first time\, playing mother and daughter in Bernard Shaw’s incendiary moral classic. \nVivie Warren is a woman ahead of her time. Her mother\, however\, is a product of that old patriarchal order. Exploiting it has earned Mrs. Warren a fortune – but at what cost? \nFilmed live from the West End\, this new production reunites Staunton with director Dominic Cooke (Follies\, Good )\, exploring the clash between morality and independence\, traditions and progress. \nMembers that are Contributor level or above and Season Passholders are able to make a table reservation for this series. Reservations can only be made after a ticket or Season Pass has been purchased and are limited. Please make sure to have your confirmation number ready to provide to the box officer at time of your reservation.

SUMMARY:Stolen Kingdom
DESCRIPTION:Limited Engagement – Five Days Only! \nDirector Joshua Bailey joins us for an in-person Q+A on Friday\, October 24 at 6:30pm and Saturday\, October 25 at 6:30pm! \nAfter three sold-out screenings at the 2025 Florida Film Festival\, STOLEN KINGDOM returns to Enzian for five days only! \nWhen people outside Orlando talk about Orlando\, the first thing that usually comes up is Disney: an icon on the map\, often cited by longtime locals as the thing that built the city\, and—to a certain type of mindset—destroyed the city. Visitors of all ages\, from near and far\, experience a childlike innocence while walking down Main Street USA as the legendary princesses wave hello. But beneath the shine of the “happiest place on earth” emerges a darker side to the magic\, and sometimes taking only pictures\, making only memories\, and buying only mouse ears just isn’t enough. \nJoshua Bailey’s brilliant\, hilarious\, and jaw-dropping exposé delves into the history of mischief\, scandal\, and thievery at Walt Disney World\, and reveals the black-market underground that ultimately leads to the theft of an animatronic valued at nearly a half-million dollars. Stolen Kingdom features key figures from the park’s urban exploration community\, each sharing their unique stories. As the narrative unfolds\, early-Disney era pranks and antics are shown to have inspired more recent crimes\, culminating in a truly unbelievable mystery. What begins as a tale of friendship and passion ends with one lingering question: Who stole Buzzy? \n

SUMMARY:30 Days of Night
DESCRIPTION:Screening as part of the 13+ Films of Halloween. \n35mm Screening! \nHave you ever wondered how you would survive a vampire attack if the night never ended?  \nDirected by David Slade (Hard Candy\, Hannibal) and based on the IDW graphic novel of the same name by Steve Niles and Ben Templesmith\, 30 Days of Night is set in the remote town of Barrow\, Alaska where the sun sets for an entire month each year. SUMMARY:Def By Temptation
DESCRIPTION:Screening as part of the 13+ Films of Halloween. \n35th Anniversary! \nJoel grew up in the church but has recently started questioning his beliefs. After sensing a supernatural presence from his deceased father\, Joel becomes compelled to visit his cousin in New York. But shortly after arriving\, they become embroiled in a series of mysterious homicides of local men\, all of whom were last seen in the company of a mysterious and beautiful woman.  \nBeautifully photographed by Ernest Dickerson (Do the Right Thing) and starring Kadeem Hardison (I’m Gonna Git You Sucka) and Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction)\, this sole directorial effort from child actor James Bond III (School Daze) is a macabre\, neon-tinged portrait of late 1980s Brooklyn.  \nReleased by Troma Entertainment\, better known for Toxic Avenger films\, Def by Temptation stands out as a stylish\, and socially aware piece of horror\, exploring the themes of religious doubt\, toxic masculinity\, and the consequences of unchecked desire in a time when HIV/AIDS cast a long shadow over urban nightlife. Though it was overlooked by mainstream audiences at the the time of its initial release\, the film has since earned a rabid fan base and scholarly attention as a vital example of early 1990s Black horror—a precursor to works like Tales from the Hood\, Bones and Candyman\, and a trailblazer in a lineage that would eventually lead to the success of Jordan Peele’s Get Out. \nRestoration courtesy of Troma Entertainment and the American Genre Film Archive. \nTry one of our 13 Cocktails of Halloween\, available at Eden Bar starting October 1: \n \nMANHATTAN TEMPTRESS\nRye Whiskey\, Dry Vermouth\, Maraschino Liqueur

SUMMARY:Ringu
DESCRIPTION:Screening as part of the 13+ Films of Halloween. \nSponsored by Rollins Master of Liberal Studies. Featuring a Book to Big Screen discussion with Professor Milt Moise of Rollins College! \nBefore The Ring terrified Western audiences\, there was Ringu—the groundbreaking Japanese horror film that changed the genre forever. Directed by Hideo Nakata (Dark Water) and based on Koji Suzuki’s bestselling novel\, Ringu follows journalist Reiko Asakawa as she investigates a mysterious videotape said to bring death to anyone who watches it. With just seven days to unravel the curse\, she descends into a chilling mystery that merges urban legend with supernatural terror. \nNot only did Ringu launch a global wave of J-horror\, it also redefined how atmosphere could be used to haunt audiences long after the credits roll. Its influence can be seen in countless films\, from psychological thrillers to ghost stories\, and even comedies. It also introduced the world to one of horror’s most iconic figures: Sadako\, whose slow\, silent emergence from the television screen remains a landmark moment in cinema. \nAbout the Speaker: \nDr. Milt A. P. Moise is a Visiting Professor at Rollins College where he teaches courses in film\, television\, and literature. His research examines bipolarity in American fiction and television\, Rastafari epistemology in the TV show Westworld\, and self-referentiality in Caribbean fiction. His upcoming projects include serving as coeditor for a special issue in the Journal of Science Fiction\, Film and Television on Apple TV’s science fiction television dramas\, and as a producer on a short folk-horror film set in his native St. Lucia tentatively titled\, Bolom Birth. \nTry one of our 13 Cocktails of Halloween\, available at Eden Bar starting October 1: \n \nSADAKO’S SEVEN DAYS\nSake\, Rye Whiskey\, Gin\, Honey\, Tea\n \nLearn more about Rollins Master of Liberal Studies: \n \nDiscover MLS: Vespers Experience\nSunday\, December 7 at 4:00pm\nRollins College \nExperience the Master of Liberal Studies program through the Rollins Christmas Vespers performance\, a faculty led discussion\, and an opportunity to connect with alumni and current students. SUMMARY:Chain Reactions
DESCRIPTION:Fifty years after Tobe Hooper’s THE TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE shocked the world and forever changed the face of global cinema and popular culture\, CHAIN REACTIONS charts the film’s profound impact and lasting influence on five great artists – Patton Oswalt\, Takashi Miike\, Alexandra Heller-Nicholas\, Stephen King\, and Karyn Kusama – through early memories\, sensory experiences\, and childhood trauma. By crafting a dynamic dialogue between contemporary footage and never-before-seen outtakes and delving into personal impressions triggered by distinct audiovisual formats (16mm\, 35mm\, VHS\, digital)\, CHAIN REACTIONS goes to the heart of how a scruffy\, no-budget independent film wormed its way into our collective nightmares and permanently altered the zeitgeist.

SUMMARY:Strange Journey: The Story of Rocky Horror
DESCRIPTION:Strange Journey: The Story of Rocky Horror is a joyful and wild ride through the tale of the cultural juggernaut that is The Rocky Horror Picture Show. From its humble origins as a London fringe theater play\, the documentary tracks its meteoric rise\, fall and resurrection to become the biggest cult film of all time. With intimate access to its creator Richard O’Brien and other major players such as Tim Curry\, Susan Sarandon and Lou Adler\, the documentary explores what makes the play and film so singular: Its groundbreaking and transgressive themes\, iconic performances and epic songs that took over popular culture. The cult phenomenon that sprung around it is unparalleled\, and created not only the midnight screenings which continue to this day\, but also a safe haven for those who ever felt different or marginalized – with particular significance for the queer community. \nIn our current political climate\, Rocky Horror’s message of inclusion and self expression holds more resonance than ever. As Dr. Frank-N-Furter says\, “Don’t Dream It\, Be It.”

DESCRIPTION:All free La CinOMAthéque screenings will take place in the Truist Auditorium at the Orlando Museum of Art. \nACCESS FOR ALL AT OMA presents: \nLa CinOMAthéque: A collaboration between OMA and Enzian\, with generous support provided by the Art Bridges Foundation’s Access for All program. \nThe Orlando Museum of Art is thrilled to announce the launch of La CinOMAthéque in partnership with the Enzian Theater\, as part of its “Access for All at OMA\,” an all-new program offering FREE admission to the museum! \nAccess for All at OMA is a monthly free day dedicated to the community. La CinOMAthéque will be a series of 6 bimonthly free screenings of experimental\, avant-garde\, art films in the Truist auditorium at OMA on Access for All day. \nEach screening will be introduced by a UCF film professor and include a talkback with OMA Chief Curator Coralie Claeysen-Gleyzon and Enzian Programming Manager Tim Anderson. \n  \nZorns Lemma: \nA rhythmically edited alphabet composed of street and shop signs shot in New York City and other elements is gradually replaced by repeated seemingly abstract shots in this influential structuralist film. Zorns Lemma is named after mathematician Max Zorn’s “lemma\,” an axiom which states that given a set of sets\, there must be a further set containing a representative item from each individual set.

SUMMARY:Cannibal Holocaust
DESCRIPTION:Screening as part of the 13+ Films of Halloween. \n45th Anniversary! 35mm Screening! \nFew films have ignited as much outrage—or cemented such a place in cinematic history—as Cannibal Holocaust. Directed by Ruggero Deodato\, this harrowing exploitation shocker pushed boundaries with its blend of cinéma vérité realism\, graphic violence\, and commentary on media sensationalism. Banned in multiple countries and famously mistaken for a snuff film upon release (leading to Deodato’s arrest)\, it remains one of the most controversial films ever made (not the least of which is due to the death of several animals on film). But beneath the gore lies a biting critique of Western imperialism and media ethics. The film rests on the mordant observation that zombies or no zombies\, chances are the living will tear each other apart\, cementing Cannibal Holocaust as not just a provocation\, but a pivotal—if deeply disturbing—milestone in horror history. \nThe film’s true intentions belie its deceptively simple concept; a university professor (Robert Kerman)\, is sent to the Amazon to determine the fate of a group of documentary filmmakers who were there to study remote cannibal tribes in an area known as The Green Inferno. What professor Monroe discovers is incomprehensible. The documentary crew—in an effort to capture more salacious footage—resorted to the rape\, torture and murder of their subjects\, only to subsequently meet that same fate themselves. \nDeodato’s film was not the first to wreak havoc on the international scene and it has surely proven to not be the last.  Nevertheless\, unlike so many other films defined as controversial in their day that have later proven to be tame—or even innocuous—as time wears on\, Cannibal Holocaust is still as unredeemable and unrelenting a spectacle as ever committed to celluloid. \nDue to graphic content\, including extreme violence and animal cruelty\, no one under 18 will be permitted. For more information\, please see the IMDB Parents Guide for this film. \nTry one of our 13 Cocktails of Halloween\, available at Eden Bar starting October 1: \n \nTHE INFERNO\nBloody Mary with Jalapeño-infused Mezcal

SUMMARY:Day of the Dead
DESCRIPTION:Screening as part of the 13+ Films of Halloween. \n40th Anniversary! Featuring an extended introduction with Barry Anderson\, special effects makeup artist! \nThe third entry in George A. Romero’s legendary zombie saga plunges viewers into a bleak\, claustrophobic world where the living may be more dangerous than the dead. Set in a fortified underground military bunker in South Florida\, the film follows a dwindling group of scientists and soldiers trying to survive in the aftermath of a global zombie apocalypse. As tensions rise and the chain of command begins to break\, Dr. Sarah Bowman  finds herself caught between the brutal authority of Captain Rhodes and the radical experiments of Dr. Logan\, aka “Frankenstein”\, who believes the undead can be trained. \nThough underappreciated upon release\, the film has since gained recognition for its grisly realism and haunting atmosphere. It also gave horror fans one of the genre’s most memorable zombie characters: Bub (Sherman Howard)\, the first of Romero’s undead to show signs of emotion and memory—hinting that maybe the undead are evolving. \nShot on a tight budget but loaded with groundbreaking practical effects by special makeup maestro Tom Savini and a young Greg Nicotero (The Walking Dead)\, Day of the Dead is arguably Romero’s darkest and most philosophical entry. While Night dealt with survival and Dawn with consumerism\, Day explores the collapse of social order\, the ethics of science\, and the erosion of humanity in extreme isolation. \n \nAbout Barry Anderson: Barry Anderson has been a creative force in the arts and entertainment industry since 1984. A veteran special makeup effects artist\, his work has been featured in numerous feature films and television productions\, including George Romero’s Day of the Dead\, Jeepers Creepers\, Hairspray\, and Mr. Nanny. He has also contributed to acclaimed documentary and television projects\, crafting lifelike recreations of human remains and mummies for productions such as PBS’s Secrets of the Dead and National Geographic’s The Mummy Road Show. Beyond the screen\, Barry has collaborated with law enforcement agencies\, creating forensic reconstructions and crime scene simulations for CSI training and forensic photography workshops. For 17 years\, Barry worked with Ripley Entertainment\, where he began as a lead artist designing and fabricating museum figures before rising to Director of the Art Department\, overseeing staff\, art direction\, and department operations. Today\, he continues to push the boundaries of his craft as the owner of Transmutation Designs\, while also serving as Director of Special Effects Engineering at Simetri Inc.\, where he develops advanced combat medic training devices for the United States military. \nTry one of our 13 Cocktails of Halloween\, available at Eden Bar starting October 1: \n \nTHE SOUR BUB\nTequila\, Absinthe\, Pineapple\, Lime\, Cucumber

SUMMARY:Night of the Living Dead (4k Restoration)
DESCRIPTION:4K Restoration! \nDive into the magic of cinema with the Enzian Film Club! Join us for an enriching experience where film enthusiasts and novices alike can explore classic films in a new light. Each session features a short presentation by esteemed professors from local colleges\, followed by collaborative discussions that bring fresh insights and foster a deeper appreciation for the art of filmmaking. Part of our Saturday Matinee Classics series\, the Enzian Film Club is your gateway to understanding and enjoying timeless cinematic masterpieces in a vibrant\, community-focused setting. \nFeaturing an Enzian Film Club discussion by David T. Meyers from Full Sail University! \nShot outside of Pittsburgh at a fraction of the cost of a Hollywood feature\, by a band of filmmakers determined to make their mark\, George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead is one of the great stories of independent cinema: a midnight hit turned box-office smash that became one of the most influential films of all time. A deceptively simple tale of a group of strangers trapped in a farmhouse who find themselves fending off a horde of flesh-eating ghouls newly arisen from their graves\, Romero’s claustrophobic vision of a late-sixties America (literally) tearing itself apart rewrote the rules of the horror genre\, combined gruesome gore with acute social commentary\, and quietly broke ground by casting a black actor (Duane Jones) in the lead role. \nAfter decades of poor-quality prints and video transfers\, Night of the Living Dead can finally be seen for the immaculately crafted film that it is thanks to a new 4K restoration\, scanned from the original camera negative and supervised by Romero himself. Stark\, haunting\, and more relevant than ever\, Night of the Living Dead is back. \nAbout the speaker: David T. Meyers is the Film Department Chairman at Full Sail University\, where he teaches the History of Motion Picture Arts. He began his film career working with legendary director George Romero on the feature film MONKEY SHINES. \nTry one of our 13 Cocktails of Halloween\, available at Eden Bar starting October 1: \n \nTHEY’RE COMING TO GET YOU\, MIDORI\nGin\, Midori\, Honey\, Lime\, Mint\, Absinthe Float

SUMMARY:Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2
DESCRIPTION:Screening as part of the 13+ Films of Halloween. \n25th Anniversary! \nJoin us for a rare 25th anniversary screening of Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2—the provocative and polarizing sequel that dared to follow up one of the most iconic and successful independent films of all time. \nDirected by Oscar-nominated documentarian Joe Berlinger (Paradise Lost\, Metallica: Some Kind of Monster)\, this psychological horror film trades found footage for a surreal\, stylized descent into media-fueled hysteria. Set in the aftermath of The Blair Witch Project’s cultural explosion\, a group of strangers come together to tour the infamous woods made famous by the original film. Among them is Jeff (Jeffrey Donovan\, Burn Notice)\, a local obsessed with the Blair Witch mythos\, who guides the group into the Black Hills Forest for an overnight stay at the ruins of Rustin Parr’s house. When they awaken with no memory of the previous night and find their video equipment has recorded something horrifying\, the lines between reality\, obsession\, and delusion begin to unravel. \nPivoting sharply from the Vérité style of its predecessor\, the film explores the media frenzy and cultural paranoia surrounding The Blair Witch Project\, rather than continuing its found-footage format. Critically panned upon release\, the film has since gained attention for its meta-narrative and subversive approach to sequel-making. Rather than simply retreading the original’s footsteps\, it attempted something more provocative: a horror film about the impact of horror films. \nTry one of our 13 Cocktails of Halloween\, available at Eden Bar starting October 1: \n \nBLACK BERRY HILLS\nBlackberry Vodka\, Amaretto\, Lime\, Lemon\, Sprite

It is an ancient\, cosmopolitan city that has seen many rulers\, invaders\, and settlers over the centuries. SUMMARY:Help Enzian Bring Reel-to-Reel 35mm & 70mm Film to Central Florida
DESCRIPTION:Be a Part of the Picture and Click Here to Give! \nEnzian is launching a campaign to upgrade our film projection system and bring Central Florida the best in 35mm and 70mm film presentation!  \nEnzian’s cherished 35mm projector has served us for four decades. However\, it operates on a platter system that studios rarely approve for screenings\, meaning thousands of high-quality archival 35mm prints from major film archives and private collections are unavailable to screen. It’s also time to bring breathtaking 70mm film\, embraced by current filmmakers such as Quentin Tarantino\, Christopher Nolan\, and Paul Thomas Anderson\, to Central Florida! \nWe’re raising $150\,000 to improve our current system by Summer 2026 and we need your help! \nThis upgrade will include: \n–  the installation of a dual reel-to-reel 35mm and 70mm projector\n– an upgrade to Enzian’s current sound system\n– a cutting-edge projection screen in the theater \nThese enhancements will make Enzian the only theater in the region\, and one of only a few in the Southeast\, with both reel-to-reel 35mm and 70mm capabilities. They will also further unlock the full capabilities of Enzian’s existing 4K laser projector\, elevating image clarity and brightness\, and enhancing color vibrancy. These improvements are a bold step toward preserving the art of cinema and expanding Central Florida’s access to the world’s most iconic\, rare\, and historically significant films. See the bottom of the page for our FAQ guide on platter vs reel-to-reel projection and more! \nEnzian’s Governing Board\, Advisory Council\, and several dedicated Enzian supporters have already pledged $80\,000 in support to Enzian’s $150\,000 campaign. That means we only need to raise $70\,000 more to reach the finish line! \nBe a part of the picture: Click here to donate today! \nDonations of all sizes are graciously appreciated. Want to make a larger gift? See the donation benefits below for gifts of $1\,000 or more! Each reel holds about 20 minutes of footage\, and at a designated moment (indicated by a ‘cue’ mark)\, the second projector switches on as the next reel unspools. This switching between projectors is why the setup is often called a “changeover” system in the industry. It keeps each reel of the film separate and therefore intact. \nA platter system\, on the other hand\, can hold an entire film spliced together into a single giant roll. The film runs continuously through one projector\, then rewinds onto another platter in real time. These systems were designed for multiplexes that did not want to employ dozens of trained projectionists to manage their equipment during showtimes. The challenge\, however\, lies in splicing reels together\, which cuts out frames at the “tails” (the beginning and end of each reel). With 35mm and 70mm prints in short supply—and the high costs of creating new ones—studios generally do not allow the vast majority of their films to be altered in this way. \nWHAT MAKES FILM PROJECTION SPECIAL? \nWhen a movie is shot on film\, each frame is a photo taken of the scene: a direct representation of what the camera\, or the eye\, would have seen. With digital recording\, each frame is a computer’s interpretation: thousands of pixels coming together to create a replication of the image. Film offers greater depth of color\, which is often noticeable in productions with dark or low-light cinematography. But\, what separates film projection even more from digital is the tactile nature of the experience. Film is a format full of life and authenticity that cannot be simply replicated with a digital presentation. Watching movies on film allows you to a view a piece of history\, where even the imperfections give you a glimpse into the print’s life. \nHOW WILL THIS UPGRADE BENEFIT ENZIAN’S DIGITAL PROJECTION? \nIn addition to reel-to-reel 35mm & 70mm projectors\, we are installing a cutting-edge screen to upgrade the theater\, along with enhancements to the audio system. Enzian’s 4K laser projector is already the industry standard\, but screen technology has advanced alongside it. To unlock the full potential and brightness of the 4K projector—and to showcase the incredible images of 70mm film—this new screen will be a tremendous benefit to our audiences. \nWHEN WILL THIS PROJECT BE COMPLETED? \nFrom the time the funds have been received\, it takes approximately 6 months to manufacture and install the new projection system. This campaign has been designed with the goal of having the new system fully in place for Summer of 2026. \nBe a part of the picture: Click here to donate today! \nFor questions\, please email development@enzian.org
